Train heists, cargo trucks hit hardest in the U.S. raids and stole parcels that were prepared to be delivered across the country

multiple freight cars were broken into every day, leaving gutted boxes on the rails and unable to reach their destination, these boxes come from Amazon, FedEx, Target, Ups, and etc,
thieves wait until the long freight trains are immobilized, then climb onto the containers they will rob,
they ditch products that are difficult to carry or move or re-sell or cheap products like covid-19 kits,
Rail Operator Union Pacific has seen a 160% rise in the thefts in Los Angelos County since December 2020, this phenomenon spiked recently with the peak of activity linked to christmas shopping,
over 90 containers were either vandalized every day on average in Los Angelos County in the last quarter of 2021: DATA
in-order to combat this, the Union Pacific says it has strengthened surveillance measures and recruited more security staff, police and security agents have arrested more than 100 people in the last 3 months of 2021, the operator estimates that damages from such thefts in 2021 amounted to some $5 million.
